Spring 2007

Spring is here!!!! We can't wait to get back outside and let our creative juices flow as we enjoy sunshine and new flowers and all the inspiration that comes with spring. New this year is our Wednesday Art Camp. Half-day and full-day programs are available. Of course, we'll continue to offer our 2 ½ hour classes on Saturdays & Wednesdays year-round.

Thanks to you, our programs and offerings continue to expand. We're very excited that we've been asked to present our Jackson Pollock lesson to students of Alcuin Montessori in Oak Park. The students will use the technique to create painted furniture for Alcuin's upcoming fundraiser.

Learning about art is fun! At Ferencak Gallery & School of Art, we maintain the philosophy that everyone can express themselves through creativity and that there's just no such thing as a mistake. This is why we believe in the idea of "revisiting" art. The best of masterpieces can be made from a "mistake". Our projects often last more than one class period, and we usually keep our art around for a while before sending it home for good. We believe in the sharing of ideas, and often hold "positive-based" critiques, allowing us to express our thoughts about our own artwork, as well as offer suggestions to help our peers. We learn about artists from history so we can see how they've shaped our world today. We also learn how to set-up, clean-up, and care for our supplies, teaching us respect for our art, tools and others. Most importantly, we learn to work independently & creatively in a social, real art studio setting.

We are committed to making our programs work for families! Flexibility is our middle name. We now offer our 2 ½ hour programs on Wednesdays and Saturdays, any time between 10:00am and 5:30pm.
